Camping Grills
The first thing you need to decide is if you need a camping grill at all. It hardly seems worth it to spend a lot of money on something you will only be using once a year. In some cases, you may not need a grill at all, but you do have to take a couple of things with you. The costlier camping grills are great if you do plenty of camping and you suspect you will even use it at home once in a while.

Some are gas, and they are made to be easily transported for people that may take a long hike to get where they're going to camp. Some are a bit bigger, but nothing like the ones you would by for your house. Instead, they are small enough to carry a short way, but will sit nicely on the apex of a picnic table and will not blow away with a powerful breeze. Some like to get charcoal grills when they are going camping, and that could be an excellent idea if you do not mind the wait for them to warm up, and you do not think you'll use it quite often. They make a special size just for camping, and they're small enough to be simply transported in the back of a truck or automobile.
They are definitely a bit messy, but they're the highest value when you do not want to spend a lot on something you will not be using again in the near future, or may even need to toss once your trip is over.
Occasionally you will find a good way to cook with wood, and you will not have to have outdoor camping grills with you. Some campsites have fire pits that let you have a safe fire, and you can put the grill screen over the fire and cook. Just remember to bring along sturdy utensils to help you prepare a meal for a hungry crew.
