A. Bahia Honda is regarded as one of the best beach areas in the state. It is located in the Florida Keys so visitors benefit from both the Atlantic Ocean and the Florida Gulf. With over 80 sites, this resort offers, snorkeling, fishing, boating, picnics on the beach and some of the best sunsets in the country. Just 12 miles south of Marathon, FL, this most southern campsite is a favorite among visitors.
B. Also in the Florida Keys is another terrific spot named: Curry Hammock State Park. This location is always sold out during the Winter months, but you can get on a cancellation list to get you into this site. This resort gets over a large percentage of reoccurring visitors. C. Gamble Rogers State Park is located in Flagler County, in the mid northern part of the state. This resort is situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intercoastal Waterway. With the beach being the most important feature of this resort, all beach activities are happening all day, every day. During low tide, make it a point to walk the beach to catch sea turtles laying their eggs and collect some beautiful shells to remind you of your trip.
D. About 50 miles west of Jacksonville, off of the water, you will find a true gem of a location. The Gold Head Branch Resort is situated on Little Lake Johnson. Here you will find Bald Eagles, Fox squirrels, the occasional Fox and more animals indigenous to Florida. If you like to golf, there are over 30 courses within a hour of this location and should offer you a nice day trip to the links. If you can plan a late fall visit, you will see the wildflowers in bloom and it will be a delight and highlight of your trip.
