Is There Any Camping In Las Vegas ?
There are three words that I never imagined I would ever say in a single sentence : Las Vegas camping. Somehow the terms just don't seem to mesh, do they ?. This is maybe why I told my hubby he was silly when he claimed that he booked a Las Vegas camping trip last year.
When most of us think about Vegas, campgrounds aren't the first thing that is evoked. With all the top Las Vegas hotels available, all the casinos and shows, many of us never think of this as a destination although we might love the great outdoors. Yet, besides being one of the greatest locations for travellers who prefer to live the high life, Vegas is also one of the top places to enjoy outdoor life. Vegas camping is truly top-notch.
Of course, Vegas camp grounds vary very greatly in quality, so you have got to do your homework meticulously. Vegas camping is only really a smart idea if you are there for something other than the shows, nightlife and casinos. By all means have a day or two in town but the main reason for camping should be the outdoor attractions that you will find near your campsite. The reality is, if you would like good Vegas camping at an inexpensive price, you have to get well outside the city boundaries. Otherwise, all you may find will be drive-in camping at much higher costs than you really should have to pay. The best Las Vegas camping is along one of the brooks that flow through the state of Nevada. For example, you can kayak below the Hoover dam on the Colorado River. There's a profusion of camping sites in Las Vegas, but unless you have a specific area in mind , or you are looking for a camping holiday that includes a trip to a show or casino then there are far nicer locations for you to take your vacation.
The reason for this is that Las Vegas camping can be a bit rough. The weather will invariably be extremely hot, and there is an absence of the cool shady forest areas that most people prefer on their camping trips. This isn't to assert that you need to give up on Vegas camping. It can have its own rewards, but it is not for the faint of heart. You would do much better camping up in the Northwest if you're attempting to find a good first outside destination.
Spending day after day in the desert could be a truly trying experience for a novice camper. Vegas camping, after all , needs some of the most careful preparations that you can imagine. If you are going to go into the desert to camp, you want to bring plenty of water, the right food, and the right clothing. Keeping cool when doing Vegas camping is nearly a matter of survival. If you don't manage to do it, you'll lose your strength quickly. You can be stranded miles and miles from civilization. Things can get very bleak very swiftly in the desert, so be forewarned and be prepared. Some may suggest that you wear long sleeves and relaxed fit slacks to keep the sun off your skin, you might want to put that advice aside. The first day of our Vegas camping journey was actually uncomfortable especially since I was dressed from head to toe.
Wear shorts and a t-shirt. Trust me. You can expect to do a lot of walking during the Las Vegas camping trip and you actually need to keep cool. Otherwise you might end up feeling tired and uncomfortable.
With all the walking concerned on a Las Vegas camping excursion you wish to invest in shoes that keep your feet happy. I discovered that my shoes were the cream of the crop and my feet were thanking me even on day one. Shoes are a selection of the most vital points to think about when doing the planning for your Las Vegas camping trip.
Don't forget your suntan lotion. The sun is always shining. O.K, there is the occasional downpour that comes out of the blue but the rain leaves as fast as it comes. I haven't ever seen anything like it. Suntan lotion is a total must on your Las Vegas camping vacation.
There is a related website on Dorset Holiday Parks, the adjoining county to Devon. If you are planning a trip to the UK then we suggest that you hire a car in the UK.
