Montana Camping – Five Great Choices

You would expect a Montana camping to be some of the best in the nation, and in fact it is. Camping in Montana offers incredible wildlife, beautiful spaces, and plenty of wide open land. There are also plenty of choices for locations to camp. Here are five of the best.

We'll start with Salmom camp. This is a state park and is suited for anyone who loves being outdoors, but also like the comforts provided by warm shower when needed. If you like hiking you'll find a lot of trails all mapped out for you. And water lovers will also enjoy it here as there are places designated for fishing, swimimng and boating.

Fort Smith is the site of perhaps Montana's most popular campground. It is there you will find Bighorn Canyon. There are miles and miles of gorgeous open land suited for a tent or RV. You can even rent a nice cabin if you choose. If you like to watch wildlife, Bighorn Canyon is a great place to be. But fishermen will like it even more as this location is known to have some very large fish living in the waters.

Kids will love to camp in Jellystone Park, and not just because it's the home of the famous Yogi bear. There are numerous activities for kids of all ages in the Missoula area park. Things such as games, crafts and other activities will keep the children busy. But it's not just a park for kids. There is plenty of hiking to be done, as well as hunting, fishing and all kinds of exploring. And for additional fun, just a few minutes away from the park you'll find a ghost town filled with mines.

Perhaps the most famous Montana camping ground is Yellowstone Park. This is a national park with camping, great wildlife, fabulous scenery and horseback riding as well. That means you can take to the trails on foot or even rent a horse to save your feet.

One other great national park in Montana is Gallatin. It is located in the western park of the state. If you like to look at large wildlife, you'll find plenty of it. Like most Montana camping areas there is a lot of open space. And it's great listening to the different animals as you explore the region.

Camping in Montana is an ideal way to spend a week or a weekend. There are so many places to choose from and the one you select can be based on whatever you are looking for. Choose based on location, the type of wildlife, the terrain or the accomodations. No matter where you select, Montana camping will be a great way to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
