Planning A Camping Trip When It’s Raining

Did you think all camping enthusiasts sat at home and bemoaned their fate during the rainy season? Nothing could be further than the truth! Veteran, hard-core campers don’t let a little or even a lot of rain dampen their adventurous spirit. Much like Gene Kelly who picked up his umbrella and went ‘Singing and Dancing in the Rain’, true campers pick up their tents and happily go ‘Camping in the Rain’. And if they are lucky, the rain may just let up long enough to let them indulge in some rambunctious singing and dancing around the campfire at night.

Take A Camping Holiday

Taking a camping trip can be a fun and affordable vacation if you enjoy the outdoors and nature. Camping offers your family the opportunity to explore the great outdoors and spend quality time together. There are no televisions, computers or other distractions to take away from family time.

State and national parks in the U.S. make camping easier with various facilities and maintained camp grounds. They have such services and amenities as garbage disposal, hot showers, guide maps, barbecue pits and first aid stations. Some have boat rentals, camper hookups and horseback riding. There are also things to keep the kids entertained and busy such as movie screenings, campfire sing-a-longs and other planned activities. Many have a convenience store which can come in handy if you forget something or need ice to fill up your cooler. Some also have cabins and hotels rooms for rent if you don’t want to rough it.

Looking For Family Bonding, Try Camping

One of the greatest experiences for family bonding is a camping trip. By leaving all the electronics at home for a few days, you and your family are forced to spend time getting to know one another once again.

Camping can be a lot of work, but is also a lot of fun. Cooking over a campfire or even with a camp stove is quite different than using the microwave at home. Perhaps you will discover the great taste of real food cooked over a real fire once again. There is no dishwasher at the campsite, so even if you use disposable plates and forks, you are going to have to wash a few dishes by hand.

Camping Food – An Essential Part Of The Fun

You've got to feel sorry for the folks who've never been camping before in their lives. My own wife is one of these individuals. I was utterly shocked to find out. She's the type that lists out endless reasons why she doesn't want to go camping. Yeah, you know the kind. The tent is too small, the ground is too hard, there are bugs everywhere, you can't take a shower in the middle of the woods, bla bla bla. The list will go on forever if you allow her to continue. But instead of doing that, I address the finer aspects of wilderness life. There's the fresh clean air, the moon and stars above, the peace and quiet, the solitude and of course the tasty camping food. Need I even say more?
