What Is In Your Camping Water?

If you are a camper, you may already know that the water is probably unsafe to drink. Generally, campgrounds get their water from a well in the ground and you can bet, it's not filtered. But that doesn't mean you can't have safe water for cooking and drinking while enjoying the beautiful outdoors.

A good portable water purifier is essential. The type of water purifier that uses Ultraviolet Treatment in the final stage of the process are highly recommended.

When shopping around for a portable UV water filtration system, keep these things in mind. You want a system that uses pre-filtration to screen out large debris. Sediment filtration is also important to remove any unseen sand or dirt. Carbon filtration is also recommended, every molecule of water is forced through the microscopic pores of carbon, effectively straining out particle matter. These three stages of the water filtration lead to the final purification process, the Ultraviolet Treatment. After the carbon filter has cleansed the water, it is exposed to intense dosages of UV light. This exposure effectively destroys viruses, bacteria, fungi, algae and protozoa. A 12Volt DC Power Supply is needed. This type of system can be expensive but well worth the cost.

The Fun Of Cabin Camping

Camping is a great outdoors adventure for many people, particularly in the summer months. You can go to almost any campground and find it filled with people enjoying themselves and reconnecting with their families again after a hectic week.

Travel trailers have become so advanced, it's just like taking your home on vacation. Tent campers prefer to feel a little more adventurous and enjoy a bit of roughing it. During the summer, this can make for difficult camping if you should be running a little late. By summers' end, though, campgrounds are deserted and closed. This is a prime time to extend your camping time by renting a cabin for a weekend or just a few days getaway.

Intelligent Camping

A lot of people still think that all they need to do when planning a camping trip is find a good campsite and prepare all their gear. Don’t get me wrong; this is very important. But that’s not all there is to do when you’re making preparations for camping. As a matter of fact, I personally think that that’s only about half of it. The other half involves using a little bit of smarts and a lot of common sense. A lot of times, campers tend to find themselves in situations which could have been avoided if only they were paying attention.

When looking for a good campground, always keep in mind that not all campgrounds are appropriate for every camper. If you’re new to camping, for example, it’s always a good decision to pick a public camping spot that’s close to your home. Avoid going to far-off locations when you’re just starting out. Remember also that public campgrounds are run by a government agency; therefore regulations and services tend to be consistent and reliable. Privately-run camping sites, on the other hand, usually vary in their services, amenities, and policies. It’s also never a good idea to set up camp in an RV park when you’re in a tent. The noise from all the air-conditioning and power generators will keep most campers up during the night when they’re supposed to be sleeping.

Camping Is A Wide Range Of Activities

Camping is an outdoor recreational activity, in which the campers get away from civilization and enjoy nature while spending one or more nights at a campsite. It may be combined with hiking either as backpacking or as a series of day hikes from a central location. The idea of sleeping outdoors in a sleeping bag or in a tent on the hard ground, cooking a can of beans over a fire and using the bathroom outside were not necessarily what the majority of people might want to do on their holidays. It might have been ok for the young, energetic and childless people out there, but for the average family or older generations, camping was something that was seldom thought of as entertainment.

The Joys Of Camping In Pennsylvania (PA)

Yellowstone and Yosemite are some of the most renowned and most known by outdoor lovers. Camping in Pennsylvania is not as well known as these other places. Yet, for campers and outdoor lovers alike there are things you should know about the camping and state parks in Pennsylvania.

Most state parks are open seasonal. Pennsylvania has three state parks that are open year round. These parks are Little Pine, Ole bull, and Promised Land. The cold might be a factor for some campers. The state is located in the upper northeast and winters see snowfall and cold temperatures. This can be remedy by the cabins available at the campsites.

At one particular park Promised Land has a 422 acre lake, which fishing is a common pastime. During the winter season ice fishing is also a big hit among visitors. That is not the only attraction during the long winter months. Campers in Pennsylvania enjoy cross country skiing and twenty three miles of snowmobile trails.

Campfire Safety

Campfire negligence is a leading cause of forest fires and also causes many camping injuries and deaths. Only build your campfires in designated areas.
