For those interested in an exciting outdoor adventure in the cooler weather, winter camping may be the choice for you. Winter camping brings an entirely new element to the activity of camping. Not only do you see the great outdoors in a totally different light, it also offers different challenges from summer camping.

Winter Camping Supplies

It is important to have the correct supplies for winter camping, as this is can, at times, have a level of danger not present at other times of the year. Things to bear in mind include rapid changes in the weather the weather may be fine and sunny, although cool, when you leave to hike to your destination and within minutes a winter storm can blow up. One thing I always enjoyed as a child was camping with the family. While we eventually upgraded to an actual fold-out camper, I can still remember the fun times with family camping tents. You know, the huge ones that sleep like eight people. I always loved those things as a kid. You could sneak in there before everyone else did, and pretend it was your own little home. That was great fun. Things seem so huge when you're a small child. Now days I watch my daughter have a blast with family camping tents when we head out for a weekend with Mother Nature. She loves to pretend it's her castle and no one can enter. There's just something to be said about the old-school family camping tents. Actually, I shouldn't say old anymore. Technology has certainly upgraded these awesome camping amenities. Family camping tents are constructed rather strong now days, with the ability to withstand a variety of weather conditions. What tent are you camping out in?

There are two different kinds of camping trips; ones that are a day trip and ones that you stay overnight. If you plan on staying overnight in the woods, than you'll definitely need camping gear. There are many helpful hunting camping supplies that should be bought to make your trip easier. Most of these hunting camping supplies can be picked up at local outdoor recreation stores.

The first thing that you should pick up is your tent. Unless you're doing your hunting in a very dry and very safe area, you'll want to sleep in a tent at night. Tents ware hunting camping supplies that can be set up and taken down fairly easily. They are also water resistant just in case it rains. Essentially, tents are just a canvas dome and have no padding, so be prepared to sleep on a very hard surface. This is the most important thing you should buy. Of course, you can't just sleep in a tent. You'll need a sleeping bag, too. Be sure to pick up a sleeping bag that is made to fit your body type. If you are prone to claustrophobia, you'll want get a sleeping bag that is big enough for you to be comfortable in. Also, the quality of sleeping bags varies greatly depending on price. The cheapest sleeping bags aren't very comfortable at all. If you are interested in having a comfortable night's sleep, then you should spend the extra bit of money.

Creating A Camping Supply List

Bringing along the right camping supplies and gear is a vital part of any successful camping trip. The following camping checklist is a general guide for the average family camping weekend. Your camping supply list may differ, depending on the climate, location, and type of camping facilities you are visiting. If you are backpacking, kayak or canoe camping, or enjoying another type of camping where gear weight is crucial, check our lightweight backpacking tips.

Shelter and bedding are two of the most important items on your camping supply list. Primitive camping trips may require nothing more than a tarp to protect you from the ground’s moisture and a good sleeping bag, but your family camping checklist should include 1 or 2 adequately sized tents, tent stakes and extra stakes, and a hammer and stake puller. Ground covers, or tarps slightly larger than the bottom of your tent, are great for protecting your camping tent from moisture and dirt. You may also want to bring along a small broom to keep your tent clean and an outdoor mat for your entrance.
