Top 20 Campsites In North America

When going camping, you must choose a really ideal camping park, not minding about whether it’s a paid site or a free one. It is now getting increasingly tough to make this decision of choosing a site that is picture perfect. There are many camp sites belonging to the National Forest Service, which are not very eye catching but in great locations. The regular camp sites are neither outstanding nor unforgettable.

The good camping parks have wonderful views, and good amenities like a proper restroom or pit toilet and a fire ring in the place of a small pit. But most of these good sites need you to make your reservations well in advance. They may also be some distance away from where you will have to leave your vehicle, as in u may have make a short hike to reach them.

North America has some excellent camping sites. They are:

New York Camping – Some Beautiful Locations

I may be biased, but I believe that one of the best place to go camping is New York State. Not only can you enjoy camping during the summer months, there are places we can go camping in the winter. Though many people do not like to camp in the winter, there are some that find this to be a lot of fun. New York camping has something for everyone because the state is large and there is many different places from which to choose.

I live in central New York. There are many great places to find New York camping around me. We have visited quite a few different campsites, even though we are not avid campers. No matter what it is you want to do, you can find something within the State of New York to make you happy. You may even want to play in your camping trip around a trip through wine country. You can find many great places for New York camping near the Finger Lakes, and this gives you easy access to many of the wineries in the area.

Maybe Camping Is For You

According to the dictionary “camping” is defined as an activity in which people live temporarily in the outdoors. Actually our history is filled with examples of soldiers camping out during the American Revolution and people who move their whole campsites with them from place to place. But in today’s world, camping is more of a recreational past time enjoyed by families and individuals alike. Camping is a great way to enjoy the great outdoors, plus it is also an economical way to take family vacations.

Where else do you get to enjoy nature at its best? Campers do everything from swimming, bird watching, rafting, hiking, hunting, horseback riding, skiing, rock climbing, relaxing and a host of other activities to numerous to mention. I think the most important aspect of camping is that it enables people to escape from the everyday stress of life in general.

Nevada Camping

The state of Nevada has varied terrain, including desert, mountains, rivers, forests and lakes. It's a terrific area for observing wildlife and geological wonders. There are numerous ways to enjoy the scenery but Nevada camping sites get visitors close to the natural world. Many of these campgrounds are contained within State Parks and conservation areas.

Dayton State Park is 12 miles from Carson City but there is no sense of being so close to civilization as the Carson River runs through the park and the rugged cliffs are in the background. There are ten campsites for tents and RVs and space is confined to 34 feet in length. The campground has a dumping station and picnic spots and it's one of the best Nevada camping locations for bird watching, fishing or hiking. The pavilion has an electricity supply, tables and barbecue and is popular with groups. The pavilion can be booked in advanced for functions, such as birthday celebrations, weddings or children's parties.

How To Save Money On Your Camping Supplies

Buying camping supplies can be relatively inexpensive and easily kept within a budget provided that you are willing to do a bit of research and spend some time comparison shopping for the best possible deals. For those that are just getting starting in acquiring camping supplies and gear, a great idea is to stick with the basics, then gradually get the specialty items as you become more familiar with what you will require with regards to camping needs.

It is always important to keep in mind that the fewer camping supplies you need to pack, clean, sort and pack in and out of your camping area the better off you will be. If you are camping in a travel trailer or tent trailer you have more storage room and additional space than those using tents and hiking into campsites will have, so you can be more liberal in choosing camping supplies. Most camping gear and equipment should serve more than one purpose to make it practical. For example, to save space consider packing pots and dishes that stack into one another and just taking the minimum number of cooking and eating supplies rather than taking a wide variety. Disposable plates and cups are often a great idea but be sure to get the paper variety that can easily be burned. Plastic is not environmentally friendly but can still be used provided it is disposed of in garbage bins at the campsite or carried out of the area to be disposed of at a later time.

Family Camping Fun

While getting away from the hustle and bustle of city life is one of the reasons families choose to go camping, for kids – it’s the ultimate adventure. If you are planning a family camping trip this summer, here are some tips that will ensure your vacation is both a safe and fun experience.

1. Pre-camping preparation. If you have small children, you may want to select a tent that will accommodate all if you comfortably. On the other hand, if you are camping with older children, it may be a good idea to purchase additional pup tents to give them some sense of independence.

Another great tip is to practice assembling the tents in your backyard so as to avoid wasting time at the camp site.

Camping At California State Beaches

California State Parks offer a total of 64 state beach facilities up and down the beautiful California coastline. Many of California’s state beaches provide camping facilities and they all offer gorgeous coastal views and a wide range of activities that are sure to please everyone in your family.

Sonoma Coast State Beach is located in the northern coastal region of California. Visitors to Sonoma Coast can enjoy hiking, bicycling, and horseback riding along the scenic trails and craggy beaches. While the strong surfs and rip currents of California’s northern beaches are not safe for swimmers, they provide great opportunities for surfing. Wildlife, including harbor seals and the endangered snowy plover, can be spotted throughout the park and fishing is bountiful all along the 17 miles of beaches.

Camping Holidays – Great Family Fun

One of the biggest sources of unhappiness in our society is that people think that you can't live well without having a lot of money. Because of this, a lot of folks work long hours so that they can spend their money on extravagant vacations. They will find ways to even make camping holidays expensive, taking tours to exotic locations instead of enjoying the camping sites around them. The truth is that with a little basic outdoors knowledge, you can go to some beautiful campsites no matter where you live. You can enjoy nature, see some spectacular views, and feel good about the fact that you're saving money while doing it.

Of course, it is easy for me to say this. I grew up taking camping holidays. My parents never went on those expensive camping holiday trips – the ones guided by tour guides in foreign countries. They knew enough about the woods that they could get around pretty much anywhere they wanted to go. We even took camping holidays to exotic destinations like Australia and New Zealand. Basically, the cost was low no matter where we went. All we had to do was pay for transportation, and the rest would practically be free.
