So, everything’s ready for your first camping trip, eh? Everything on your checklist has been prepared and you’ve already practiced with your camping equipment. The food, the drinks, even the first-aid kit is stocked. You’re set and raring to go! Well, congratulations on being well-prepared. You’ve come a long way indeed. But you still have to know a few important things before running off into the wilderness and plunking down that tent. Here are a few things that a first-time camper should know about.
Camping means working too, not just playing. Even if you really, really want to get away from it all, there are some things that you just can’t possibly avoid, like chores. When you go camping, you still have to do some of them. Picking out a good campsite, setting up your tent, unpacking your gear; these all entails some work on your part. Not to mention starting a fire, cooking, washing dishes, and cleaning up your trash.

I've had backpacking trips that included rain, snow, lightning, rockslides, altitude sickness, and twenty-mile days - all in a summer weekend. Wilderness trips can be dangerous, but you can make then less so, by having the following ten essentials in your backpack.
1. Knowledge. What good is a compass if you don't know how to use it? Play with matches if your fire-making skills are shaky. Learn what to do when you see a bear. Read a little, practice a little - knowledge is more likely to save you than gadgets.
2. Map and compass. These are together, because that's the way you need to use them.

First aid kits are essential items to have regardless of where you are, but it is especially important to have a first aid kit on hand whenever you are camping or enjoying your favorite outdoor activities. The outdoors carry many more risks of injuries from insect or reptile bites, scrapes and scratches, blisters from extensive hiking, or even serious emergencies in the backcountry miles away from civilization. A well-stocked first aid kit could mean comfort from a nasty thorn or it could save your life.
The items kept in your camping first aid kit will vary depending on your activities, but there are some basic items that should always be included. Keep the following items in a common container, like a small duffle bag, a cosmetic case, or a rubber container with a lid. Fishing tackle boxes make nice containers for camping first aid kits that are kept at camp.

There are a lot of individuals everywhere who enjoy the relief of camping. Whether you’re spending the weekend camping with your family at the nearest state park or backpacking through the backcountry, there are some rules of camping safety that you need follow. Many of these camping safety tips are simply common sense, but it is still a smart idea to review these guidelines before starting any sort of outdoor adventure.
General Camping Safety
Camping safety begins before you ever left for your vacation. Check the weather forecast ahead time and be prepared for rain or storms. Pack emergency rain gear, in addition to a well-stocked 1st aid kit, and arrange to arrive at your campsite as early as possible. You want lots of time to set up camp before the sun sets.

We all love a family camping trip in the summer. We make plans to hit our favorite camping destination where you can fish, swim and sit around a campfire in the evenings. Summer is the premiere time for a camping vacation. Or so many people think.
More and more couples are taking camping trips in the fall months to take advantage of lower campsite costs, smaller crowds and cooler weather. Many campsites reduce their fees after Labor Day, making fall camping less expensive than summer camping, an especially nice savings during the current economic times. Because school has started, there are fewer kids and teenagers camping in the fall, making the campgrounds a little quieter for young and old couples to have a relaxing, and maybe romantic trip. The nights are often chillier as well, offering the perfect opportunity to snuggle up under a warm blanket with a friend or loved one. Plus, the scenery during the fall can’t be beat. The greens of summer turn into vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows.

Searching for more budget family vacations? Camping can be the perfect fit for low priced family vacation. No matter what, whether you choose national forests or camping grounds in state parks camping will be a memorable family getaway. One may choose several methods and way while planning camping outing, but most families prefer the free style camping. When I say free style camping that means just get a tent and let the fun ball rolling.
Comparing the cost of RV parks or camp site with bunch of amenities against the expense of free style camping accessories purchase; the expense is less with free style camping. Free style camping needs accessories such as tents, sleeping bags and other camping travel gear for your vacation; the cost is minimal. Also, amenities at camp site will not let you enjoy the real camping experience.

Combining your love for camping and your love for your pooch can make the pastime of camping enjoyable year around, in many locations since a lot of dogs love to be outdoors , as long as you make a little preparation and follow a few simple steps to keep them safe.
K9's, regardless of their size and breed, can be highly susceptible to temperature. It is important, when camping with your dog, to choose a campsite that caters to their needs . A campsite with adequate of shade, for instance, should be selected if it is particularly hot outside . Conversely if it’s chilly , choose a campsite with some exposure to the sunshine so they can get warm.
One of the pleasures of camping is sitting around an open fire. This particular pleasure , however, poses significant danger to dogs that may unintentionally get too close. Particularly when they’re playing. Long tails can swish across the flames and the next thing you know you’re chasing a flaming dog. That's not fun.

When you go camping, you want to have a fun time. You don't want to have a never ending list of problems to deal with. Well, at least I doubt you do.
Following are helpful tips to ensure a great time in the great outdoors. If you follow these tips, you're much more likely to have a great trip.
Start by making a checklist so that you won't forget anything. Nothing can mess up a camping trip like forgetting an important item.
Remember hygiene items like toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, toilet tissue, etc. Baby wipes are another really convenient item to have on-hand. Don't take more than you need, though, as they are heavy.
