Camping Heaters

Done any camping lately? What do you haul along these days anyway? When it comes to that bout with the wilderness, there are just so many things we can acquire to make nature seem like a home away from home. Well, at least it's that way for me anyway. From resilient and water-proof tents, to portable showers, to campfire grills, to camping heaters; there's truly no end to the spectrum of options. What is your absolute necessity when it comes to battling the bush? I have to admit that mine is a knife. Okay, so it's a little old-school, but it's simply what I find imperative. Regardless of what you love to tote along on all your fun and exciting camping adventures, you can certainly find it online.

How often do you venture off on a camping trip? Are you one of those once a year kind of families, or do you practically live in the woods year-round? I have to say for our family it's more of an annual thing these days. It's just so hard to pull away from work, school, and family functions in order to have that date with Mother Nature. Although I was never big on camping supplies myself, it seems that we've added quite a few to the backpacks now days. I blame my wife for this. She's not exactly an outdoor nut. When we head off to the timber, I know there's one thing she absolutely has to have and that's one of those new-age camping heaters. Have you even heard of such a thing?

Camping Tips

Camping is essentially for those of us who love the outdoors and can do without all of the comforts of home for a short while. However,

Just loving the outdoors is not enough to guarantee that the experience will be a fun one. The essentials of having fun in the great outdoors are preparation and an open mind. Preparation is easy, if you follow some simple rules.

When you are getting ready to plan a trip, you must select a convenient time that will give you flexibility of one to two days. This will make the trip more about you, and less about your timetable. You may run into weather problems or you may just want to camp for an extra day. Next, choose a location and make it specific. Don’t just choose a county where you saw a campground. Call the campground or the park office and get reservations or information about the time you have allotted. Many parks are happy give you information and tips about what to expect. The most complicated step in preparation is making a list of what to bring. Making a list is essential and your list will change dramatically the more you trips you take.

Learning To Love The Great Outdoors

It's a shame to come to the realization that many of us will go their whole lives without ever really getting to experience and appreciate the beauty and majesty of the great outdoors. Mother Nature is all around, a short drive for anyone to appreciate and yet so little do in comparison to those that don't. My hope through this article is the change of priority to encourage those who normally wouldn't to find something worth trying outside.

I could simply say, 'you should get out there and do something amid nature', but that wouldn't really give you any indication of what these types of activities could be if you weren't already an outdoorsy kind.

Weekend Camping

Do you have a weekend without anything to do or a weekend when you don’t want to do anything? I know what I’d do. I would pack up the truck and head for the woods. Sitting by a camp fire with your favorite people solves many problems, so you shouldn’t wait too long between fires. My favorite thing to do on a weekend is to camp. Are you looking for an easy way to camp? How about car camping? I love it!

First of all, let’s define car camping? When you can drive your vehicle right up to the camp site, that’s called car camping. Even if you’re driving a truck it’s still called car camping. The advantage of car camping versus primitive or base camping is that you can take anything you want with you. If you want to take a hammock or huge grill or a stack of magazines, you can. Load your car or truck with food, clothing, shelter, bedding, games and anything else you want to take along and get going. It’s really that simple.

So where can you car camp? Just about anywhere. National and state parks don’t allow car camping except in designated campgrounds, other than that, you can car camp virtually anywhere on public lands. The internet is loaded with websites that can help. Start looking at www.backcountrytoys.com/education.htm. Our Education Center is loaded with up to date camping information.

Here are some things I take along when I car camp: hiking gear, bird watching binoculars and field guide, a radio for music and weather updates, tent, cot, sleeping bag, grill, shovel, fire starting gear, lots of food and drink, first aid kit, a stack of reading material – this can also be used for building a fire – such as newspapers and magazines, rain gear, hammock, dogs and dog food, folding chairs and table, stove, table service and utensils….you get the idea. I take all that I need to be comfortable. If you don’t have these things, don’t fret, all you really need are food, shelter and common sense.

Camping is a great way to renew and strengthen relationships. Take your spouse, your children, your siblings, your friends. Without the distractions of television, telephone, internet and alarm clocks, you will have a wonderful time. I’ll always remember something a dear friend of mine told me years ago, “Time spent in our great outdoors is time added to your life.” That sounds like a good reason to go.

Use this information and you’ll Get It Right The First Time. Get Outdoors!

My Fondest Camping Memories

I have very fond memories of different camping trips when I was a child. These trips really brought my family together in many different ways and I always had a great time. One of my favorite things to do is to camp in the wilderness. I really love to hunt and fish, and camping puts you in a great position to do either one. Sometimes I like to just sit out in nature and observe the animals in their natural habitat.

Camping Cots – Your Back Will Thank You

I have a love/hate relationship with camping. I love to be outdoors, and I love the idea of spending that time with friends and family away from modern distractions, but the idea of sleeping on the ground is not something that gets me excited. This comes from past experience, and the knowledge that my back doesn’t like my bed on some nights. Laying on the ground to sleep is something that guarantees that I will be in a lot of pain the next day. Recently, someone suggested that I look into a camper, which I won’t do, or perhaps I should consider getting camping cots for the few times we wish to go camping.

I have to admit that the idea of camping cots opens up the world of camping for me again. I don’t think I would enjoy camping as much if I were in a camper, unless there is bad weather or perhaps the nights are very cold. However, camping cots would ensure that I could rest much better at night, and that would mean that I feel well enough to enjoy myself during the day. This would mean I would be more likely to get excited about a trip, and that I would also be more willing to plan more of them.

The Simple, Easy Camping List

My camping list seems to last forever! Who doesn't love to go camping? Lying under the stars listening to the sound of nature all around you, building a fire out of nothing but sticks to keep you warm. Getting in touch with nature is the best satisfaction of going camping, but the camping list of things to pack seems endless.

Some people are avid campers so they seem to know all the tricks of the trade on how to pack the least possible. There are few factors involved when packing for camping... How long are you going to be gone and what necessities do you have to have?
Length of stay is a major factor when going camping. After you decide how long you will be away from home you can then decide how many meals you are planning on cooking and how elaborate you plan on making them. Most families that go camping just have sandwiches that make everything seem easy. A cooler, ice, sandwich meat, condiments such as mustard or mayonnaise, paper plates and drinks is about all you need for this feat.
