If you like to spend your summers outdoors and if you are a rather active person, you will find having a cooler invaluable. Nothing is worse than drinking a hot soda but a cooler works to keep everything nice and chilled for an extended period of time.

Soft coolers are great for those times when you want to spend the day at the beach and want to bring along a bunch of drinks and food for you and all your friends. If you plan on packing drinks or beer you might want to refrigerate the drinks beforehand. Coolers aren't great at making drinks cold; the simply keep drinks that are already chilled cold. The summer can be hot and unbearable but you can make life a lot more pleasant by utilizing a cooler.

Camping is a very popular activity among the under Forties. People like to go hunting, fishing, hiking, walking or simply camping with their friends, family or lover. The outdoors is delightful and can be romantic. Lots of people want to get a little closer to nature and the easiest way of doing this is sleeping under canvas, or nylon or something man-made like that. Another benefit for the young is that it is inexpensive.

However, it is not only inexpensive, it is healthy and instructive. All children should go camping either with their parents or the scouts in order to learn something of nature before they get locked into a career to pay the mortgage and forget that there is life outside the city. You know, there are inner city children that do not know that milk comes from cows? How ridiculous is that?

So, if you are going to take an education in nature by the horns, you will have to have some camping equipment. Inexpensive though camping equipment is relative to the equipment required for other activities, most people still have to be a bit careful how much they spend.

If you fall into that bracket, then this article is for you. Before we get into the nitty-gritty, it is worth pointing out that if you have the money, you can do worse than just going down to the local sports shop or camping shop and buying all your equipment from them. Buy everything you need in one go and ask for a discount. if anything ever goes wrong they will remember you as a big spender and fix it for you straight away.

However, the rest of have to be a little more cautious with the cheque book. If you know a bit about camping gear from your parents or from the scouts and do not mind second-hand, then car boot sales and garage sales can be just the ticket.

Frequently people are selling things because their kids have left home and they are having a clear out or perhaps they have had more children and the pup tent is no longer any use to them.

I sold a lovely tent not so long ago for peanuts because I knew that I would never need it again. The beauty of these sales is that you can put the tent up or get the seller to put it up for a closer inspection. Look for rot, sniff for mildew, check the number of pegs and guide lines et cetera, but do not get carried away with perfection, you can buy extra pegs, lanyard and a mallet, but you do not want to have to sew up holes or replace zips or fly screen.

Classified ads are another decent source of equipment, but pick the item up yourself so that you know where to take it back if you do not have the opportunity to inspect it in the right manner before handing over the money.

EBay and Amazon are also pretty decent, but you have to do some research on the manufacturers' names and the standard retail prices otherwise you might end up buying a costly copy, a kiddies' toy tent or simply junk.

One of my favourite stores to browse is the Army and Navy Surplus store. Try going into an A&N and coming out empty-handed. If the equipment in there is good enough for our troops to risk their lives with, it's decent enough for a week in the Poconos.

People are practicing camping every days and every summer. More and more are doing it. Your friends, relatives and family can enjoy this great sport. You can spend all the summer or just a day doing camping. Since I was a child, I have been into camping escape. It started out with my family, later, as a teen, I was doing camping with my friends.

Those days, I either go with my family (my wife and kids) or alone. I usually like to spend a whole weekend far from the city. We found a nice place like 2 hours afar near a nice lake. The kids do enjoy the location a lot. It is good for people to breath fresh air once in a while.

In fact, we do bring two of them. One for my wife and I and another for the kids. Such a tent is great because it has good water resistance besides being lightweight. If you do plan to go fishing during your trip, bring an additional fishing pole in case your main one will be damaged for any reason.

After having hiked over the mountain path for almost the better part of the day, one is just looking for the right place to settle down. The welcome site of the camping tent beckons you. It is time to unpack and have the packed dinner. One is looking forward to sliding into the comfortable and cozy sleeping bag that is rolled up. It gives you a satisfied feeling that there is the sleeping bag for you to slide in, zip in and drift away with the cool wind all around and millions of stars in the sky watching over you.

When you go camping or trekking or mountaineering or whatever, and far away from civilization, it is just not possible to think of carrying a bed howsoever attractive the idea seems to be. But then almost equally useful camping equipment that you can easily carry around is the sleeping bag. It almost serves the same purpose as the bed. It is actually a blanket with the sides closed with a zipper, and having soft cushioning or soft padding inside for giving the feel of a bed. The sleeping bag gives you warmth with its thermal insulation. Sleeping bags comes in two types. The normal ones are the ones that look like a blanket which can be folded and then rolled, tied with straps or cords and carried inside a backpack. Then there are the ones that remind us of the Egyptian mummies, and aptly these sleeping bags are called mummy bags. These have a larger opening at one end as compared to the leg side. It tapers down to the leg side. It cannot be easily folded or rolled. But it is better stuffed into a compression or stuff pack to be carried in the backpack.

Canvas and nylon are used commonly to manufacture backpacks. Nylon has advantages over canvas. They are lighter in weight than canvas. Its high melting point makes it safer from catching fire. It is tougher than canvas. It does not tear and wear easily. It has a high durability. The contents are safer inside a nylon backpack. It resists molds, animals and insects. While sleeping outside one has to be wary of the wind and the precipitation. The sleeping bags are designed precisely to protect you from these. It covers you up cozily protecting you from the exterior. Synthetic fills are used such as PrimaLoft as the insulating materials. Another commonly used material is the down fill. Though cotton or wool too is used, these are not popular. Insulation is better in the synthetic fill bags. Water absorption is also poor and it keeps you dry in wet conditions. You can carry the synthetic bag with you just as you would a folded blanket. Heat retention is better in the down fill bag. But this is costlier than the synthetic fill bags.
