Tents Are For Life, Not Just For Christmas

We all love to go camping, there's nothing like being outdoors and taking in the fresh air that surrounds us. It's no wonder that camping has increased in popularity so rapidly since the credit crunch hit in early 2008. People are going back to the UK holiday, packing their bags and getting off on a great holiday for little or no money. There's only one thing that you need before get along to a great holiday, and that's a great tent!

The first thing to consider when buying a tent is simple -is it going to be a long term relationship or is it simply for a one off trip? THere's been a strange shift recently - people have been going towards a line of thought that says that tents should be throw away, that they should be cheap, cheerful, and "once only". Personally I think this mindset is part of the tragedy of our age, a mindset that considers nothing valuable and everything as waste.

A Black Swiss Army Knife Alone Does Not Make It Camping

Particular items are necessary when a family camps. Things essential at a campground are the same as those used at home. The basics are food, water, shelter, clothing, fire, and light. A fishing pole, black Swiss Army knife, and courageous attitude is also a big help. At night, things crawl around and go bump in the night, while there is hardly any light.

Shelter is protection from the outside elements. Tents are a basic kind of shelter for a campsite, outside of making dirt a place to sleep. Tents need to be selected based on how much equipment and how many persons will be traveling. The size of tents are based on twos.

Multiple Uses Of Tunnel Tents

Tunnel tents are widely used these days due to the multiple uses it can be put to. The sides of the sheets are brought together with the help of hoops from the corner to give the shape of a tunnel. The tents are double rested and can fit in from one person to a maximum of 8 to 10 people at a time with head space of up to 180 cm(6 ft). You can get the best of performance even in the worst weather conditions by these tents.

Common tunnel tents have sleeping arena at one side and porch or storage arena at other side. They are becoming more popular these days as their design is one of the most robust and sturdy one and can be used in high wind and bad weather conditions. They are light weighted having large inner working area and can be tapered down to the ground for extra space. Its shape makes it ideal for use in the regions of rain and snowfall.

Camping Tips To Make Camping Fun And Safe

The best camping tip you can get is to abide by the Boy Scout motto and “be prepared.” There are all sorts of things that can happen on a camping trip so expect the unexpected. Make lists of items that you should bring and pack all the essential equipment. Take into consideration the area where you will be, any rules for the camping site, weather conditions, safety and fun.

The Campsite

Make sure you have the proper equipment for camping. Know what sleeping arrangements are and where you will be cooking. If you are using a camper or RV, much of this will be supplied in your facilities but you will need to know any rules for the particular campsite. If you are sleeping outdoors, make sure you have tents and sleeping bags as well as warm clothing. Bring waterproof matches for campfires and cooking. Set up tents according to instruction. Always leave your campsite the way you found it. The best rule of thumb is to make sure it looks like you were never there.

Outdoor Camping Equipment – A Crucial Part Of Your Trip

We all enjoy camping out under the stars and pale moon. Am I right or am I right? There's not a human being alive that doesn't adore a good bout with Mother Nature. Just lounging by the campfire, singing a tune and soaking up the peace and quiet. Alright, I admit that there may be a few folks that don't enjoy the outdoors. As for the rest of us, we need that relaxing break from the real world chaos and stress. And with the right outdoor camping equipment, a trip up into the wilderness can be an utter blast. Everyone get your tents, sleeping bags, and flashlights ready; we're headed outdoors.

The Right Tent Makes Camping Better

Whether you have the average 2.5 kids, or a tribe as big as the Brady Bunch, there is a tent that will meet your families’ needs. In fact, these days there are so many tents on the market that you can go from the simple one-person variety to the much larger Taj Mahal’s that quite literally accommodate double-figure families.

If you are looking to buy a family tent, there are a number of things you should consider. Firstly, you will need to decide on the capacity of your tent. For instance, even though there may only be four members in your family, your kids might want to invite friends on holidays. Grandma and Grandpa might also want to join you. Making sure you have enough room allows you to handle any eventualities and any extras that might tag along!

What You Need to Survive Outdoors

Why I practice bushcraft & survival

I'm a keen camper, but I'm certainly not as hardy as the likes of Ray Mears or Bear Grylls. For me it's fair weather all the way.

But a few of my tougher camping buddies were discussing what they would need, as a minimum, in order to spend a few nights outdoors at this time of year in the UK (its springtime and still very cold at night).

We concluded that the bare essentials would consist of shelter, somewhere warm to sleep and the means to create fire and find food and water. So the outcome of the beer fuelled conversation has been the challenge for us to spend two days and nights surviving and sleeping outdoors.

How To Choose The Right Tents And Heaters

Any experienced camper will attest to the truth that a camping trip’s success largely depends on the camping equipment. Now this does not mean that you have to spend a fortune or withdraw all your savings from the bank and get the most expensive camping gears there are. This will not ensure you of a great camping experience.

Knowing how to choose the right camping gear like tents and heaters does not only depend on the price but more importantly on the quality of the gear. It is therefore important that you are able to acquire the right kind of tent and heater to have an enjoyable camping trip.

Heading Out to the Mountains – You Will Need A Tent

Tents are typically thought of as transient shelter for recreational uses, but many of us around the planet still live in what seem to be tents all the time, forever. All around the year, whether winter or summer, these special structures house whole families against the elements. In the steppes of Mongolia and Central Asia, nomadic peoples still use felt-covered wood lattice yurts for houses. They are like tents that can be pitched anytime, anywhere, and yet are much more spacious and strong, such that they can stand permanently if necessary, as indeed many do these days when some steppe peoples no longer follow large herds around and are essentially settled down in one place.

An Important Camping Checklist

For some campers who are stressed out by packing because they cannot distinguish what’s essential and what’s not, those that are tempted to bring the whole house just to make sure they have not forgotten anything, or are apprehensive about the thought that they missed putting something important on their checklist, here’s a helpful checklist that is divided into categories to ensure that you’re not forgetting anything and to make packing easier.

Camping gear

1. A reliable and durable tent. Choose one that has sturdy poles, durable fabric, heavy duty zippers and sufficient ventilation to make the atmosphere inside the tent fresh and breezy.

2. Comfortable sleeping bag with insulation for cold nights.
