I Am Considering Buying New Camping Gear And Equipment

We all enjoy camping out under the stars and pale moon. Am I right or am I right? There's not a human being alive that doesn't adore a good bout with Mother Nature. Just lounging by the campfire, singing a tune and soaking up the peace and quiet. Alright, I admit that there may be a few folks that don't enjoy the outdoors. As for the rest of us, we need that relaxing break from the real world chaos and stress. And with the right outdoor camping equipment, a trip up into the wilderness can be an utter blast. Everyone get your tents, sleeping bags, and flashlights ready; we're headed outdoors.

Less than a month ago I was camping in a nearby woods with my daughter. She was the only one of my family members I could get to go with me. Fortunately she loved the experience. We're lucky to have a friend that owns a large portion of land, because he lets us camp on it whenever we please. Now, you may be wondering why we ventured out into the bush during the winter season.

Camping – A Budget Vacation

When it comes to enjoying a vacation on a limited budget, it is difficult to beat the appeal of the good old camping trip. After all, it costs next to nothing to pitch your tent in the back country wilderness of your favorite state or national park. A week long camping trip can often cost less than a day or two in a big city or tourist hot spot, while giving the entire family time to bond and enjoy being together.

As a matter of fact, camping is one of the most popular family activities, and many families enjoy camping together, sharing stories around a roaring fire, roasting marshmallows, swimming, fishing and all the other great things that come with a camping trip.

Things You Should Know When Camping

So, everything’s ready for your first camping trip, eh? Everything on your checklist has been prepared and you’ve already practiced with your camping equipment. The food, the drinks, even the first-aid kit is stocked. You’re set and raring to go! Well, congratulations on being well-prepared. You’ve come a long way indeed. But you still have to know a few important things before running off into the wilderness and plunking down that tent. Here are a few things that a first-time camper should know about.

Camping means working too, not just playing. Even if you really, really want to get away from it all, there are some things that you just can’t possibly avoid, like chores. Camping Trailer

I used to love taking camping holidays deep in the woods. I was an avid hiker, and no trek was too difficult for me. Sometimes, I would walk as much as 20 miles a day! This wasn't just a walk in the woods either. I was carrying a heavy pack of camping equipment, complete with clothing, food, emergency supplies, and recreational items. I never went to those camping sites that were right by the road. I would always hike into the wilderness.

When I hurt my back, however, I knew that I wouldn't be able to take these kinds of camping trips anymore. At first I was depressed, but I decided not to let it get me down. Instead, I bought a camping trailer. I had always sort of looked down on camping trailers. It seemed like a stupid way to go off into the woods. I had seen lots of those pop up trailers in the camping sites that I drove past on the highway. People would include everything in them. They would take along their televisions, their liquor cabinets, and all sorts of electronic appliances. Basically, there seemed to be no point to it. Why go off into the woods and bring the city along with you?

Camping Heaters

Done any camping lately? What do you haul along these days anyway? When it comes to that bout with the wilderness, there are just so many things we can acquire to make nature seem like a home away from home. Well, at least it's that way for me anyway. From resilient and water-proof tents, to portable showers, to campfire grills, to camping heaters; there's truly no end to the spectrum of options. What is your absolute necessity when it comes to battling the bush? I have to admit that mine is a knife. Okay, so it's a little old-school, but it's simply what I find imperative. Regardless of what you love to tote along on all your fun and exciting camping adventures, you can certainly find it online.

How often do you venture off on a camping trip? Are you one of those once a year kind of families, or do you practically live in the woods year-round? I have to say for our family it's more of an annual thing these days. It's just so hard to pull away from work, school, and family functions in order to have that date with Mother Nature. Although I was never big on camping supplies myself, it seems that we've added quite a few to the backpacks now days. I blame my wife for this. She's not exactly an outdoor nut. When we head off to the timber, I know there's one thing she absolutely has to have and that's one of those new-age camping heaters. Have you even heard of such a thing?

Backpackers Should Know About These Wild Plants

Why learn about wild plants just to go backpacking? Of course it is interesting for some of us, but beyond that, a little knowledge of plants can save your life. This isn't just about the edible ones. Food is actually a low priority in most wilderness emergencies. However, there are many other important uses for the plants out there.

Useful Wild Plants

Cattails: The cattail is one of the most useful wild plants in the wilderness. Swampy or wet areas throughout the northern hemisphere have cattail plants, and once you identified them, you'll never forget them. While they have five edible parts, cattails are much more than food plants. Their long flat leaves have been used for centuries to make baskets and food-serving trays. You can weave them into mats for sleeping on, and even make crude clothing out of them.

The cost makes a difference

The first thing you need to take into consideration is the price you are paying. You would think that the cost price for all camping stoves are nearly the same but the actual prices are a little murky. For example you could possibly pay $12.99 for a small portable model, but if you want a larger model, then you might want to go for something a bit more expensive.

Outdoor Camping Equipment

I can't wait to hit the trails and climb the mountains! I mean I like to go all out and scale those fierce rock walls with just some chalk on my hands and no safety cables whatsoever. Okay, you caught me; I'm lying. Hey, this isn't Cliffhanger you know. Anyway, I really do like to hit that wilderness scene for a fun weekend of camping, hiking and lounging by the fire ring. There's just something relaxing about crickets chirping at night and the bright moon washing over my face. Not a car in sight for miles; no chaos of crowds and pitter-patter of marching feet. Yes sir, that visit with Mother Nature is often much needed. So, have you taken any good camping adventures lately? One thing you'll need to make sure is up to speed is your outdoor camping equipment. Do you have all the necessities for a fun and eventful weekend away from home?
