Take The Family Camping In Bright Victoria – Discover The Beauty Of Bright

Being someone who has seen a lot of the great places in in Bright, camping in Bright still is hands down one of the most fun things to do in Bright, Victoria (in my opinion). With the beautiful bush setting, surrounded by the highest peaks in Victoria, there is simply no better way to "rough it up" in Bright.

Camping in Bright comes in many different shapes and forms. For one, there are many great caravan parks and camping grounds available in the area, ranging anywhere from Bright to Porepunkah, and even out to Mt Beauty, each town has a luxury place to camp in style, most with available electricity, and amenities. Mt Beauty Holiday Park is one that I cherish, having spent almost every single Christmas from the time I was a toddler until my early teens camped on the Kiewa River underneath the imposing bulk of Mt Bogong. This was a great way to experience a family holiday, with the owners of the caravan park being extremely hospitable, however, this is definitely not an option for those who want to head to the bush, and "rough it up" a little.

More wild camping is available in the National Parks, with camping being permitted in most areas within 200 meters of any road. Of course, this is subject to change, it is recommended to check the Parks Victoria website for further information on where you can and can't camp, as this changes seasonally.

For some more quiet and secluded camping, the Dargo High Plains is ideal. This area is less popular in most seasons, which is great for getting back to nature and quiet time with your husband, wife, and family. Around Mt Hotham, all the way up the Great Alpine Road camping is available. Including Dimantina Hut, which is in one of the most perfect spots to view the highest peaks in Victoria. Imagine having that morning cup of coffee whilst gazing over the striking peaks that make up this amazing view.

If you are up for a little bit of a walk, there are several popular locations for camping around the Bogong High Plains. With just a few kilometers walk off most main roads, Wallace Hut, Langford Gap and a few other areas are great for taking yourself and the family camping. Once you see it for yourself, you will understand why Wallace Hut is one of the most popular all throughout the year with both families and avid hikers. Also being the most photographed Hut in Australia, one night staying at this hut, and you simply will not want to leave.

Mountain Creek Camping Ground is located at the very foot of Mt Bogong, offering a comfortable camping area, with toilets and water from the pristine waters of Mountain Creek. This is a personal favorite of mine when I go hiking on Mt Bogong, although it can be quite packed in the summer months, the sound of Mountain Creek in the background certainly makes it easy to forget about the busy lifestyle that you are escaping by going camping in and around Bright.

I could go on and on about all the areas in Bright that you could stay at. But I would make a few people a little upset with spilling their secret spots. I have many of my only little spots I like to go to either spend the night or sit and take in country Victoria. But the best part of this slice of Victoria is to just explore! Find your own little bit of paradise to come back to again and again. Packed already? Come and see Bright Victoria.
